Dr. Wong is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Business at the University of Hong Kong. Formerly, he was the Deputy Director of Executive Education, Executive Director of the Poon Kam Kai Institute of Management, and an Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong.
He teaches courses on Organizational Leadership, Business Networking, Strategic Human Resource Management and Chinese Business and Society, mainly in post-graduate and executive programs. For seven times, he has been elected as one of the ‘best teachers of the year’ in the MBA program. Dr. Wong's main research interests are in the management of social networks and the cross-cultural comparison of management and business practices in Asia. His publications appear in leading international management journals such as the Administrative Science Quarterly and Organization Studies. His has also published 30 case studies on management practices in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Japan. These are published through the Asian Case Research Center at HKU and distributed through Harvard Business School.
Dr. Gilbert Wong has undertaken extensive executive education and management consultancy work for major private and public organizations internationally. A partial list of his clients include HSBC, PCCW, China Light and Power, Textile Alliance Ltd., China Minsheng Bank, Citicorp, HK Stock Exchange, DHL, Bass Hotel Resorts, Modern Terminals Ltd., Cathay Pacific Airways, HAECO (HK Aircraft Engineering Corp), Li & Fung and various departments and bureaus in the Hong Kong SAR Government. In Mainland China, he has also run executive programs for the following companies through Fudan University, China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and IVEY Business School: Kingdee, Sony, Xian Janssen, Emerson, Shanghai General Motors, DHL, Bekaert, Bosera, New China Investment, Tencent, and Adidas, Swire Bottler and TAECO (Taikoo Aircraft Engineering Co.)
